Dell XPS comes in two different colors, night sky and platinum silver. The platinum silver has a nice modern look with aluminum feet that raise it off the desk something you don’t get with the night sky color.

At the front of the unit, you have the power button, the optical drive, DVD drive, SD card slot, headphone jack, three USB-A Gen 1 ports, USB-C Gen 2 port.

On the back you get the audio ports, display 1.4 port, two USB-a 3.2 ports, USB-C Gen 2, three USB-A 2.0 port, RJ45 Ethernet port, three expansion slots: HDMI and three display ports and the power port.

The Dell XPS is very user accessible.

There are four slots to upgrade the RAM. A Radiator on the left rear system fan as well the liquid cooling and liquid cooling tubes. Primary M.2 SSD ON THE LEFT AND A SECONDARY M.2 SSD. It has a spinning hard drive for additional storage needs.

The power supply unit supports up to 750 watts supporting up to 350 watts in terms of the graphics.

PERFORMANCE:

RESULTS:

As you can see from these benchmark results there is an excellent performance. We get really good single-core and multi-core performance on the Geekbench test, and even on the Cinbench R23 which is a good indicator of how it is on heavy sustained workload which counts for any kind of throttling.

 For things like Microsoft office, web browsing and even graphics with the RTX 3060 TI has been really good. 4K video rendering, 3D rendering and any kind of graphics horsepower you need this XPS can handle it.

The Dell XPS is definitely a good gaming machine with very payable frame rates on some of the most popular titles.

The fan kicks in under heavy loads, and the liquid cooling helps the thermals maintaining really good performance. Very little if any throttling is detected on the XPS.

The chassis design is bigger than previous designs which allows really good airflow thus coming through in both performance and the thermals.

CONCLUSION.

Starting on the down side, the fans can get loud especially under heavy workloads. The XPS also has a proprietary power supply and lacks removable dust filter.

On the positives, the Dell XPS (8950) has a modern design, it is easy to upgrade, has really good port selection, great performance, both the CPU and GPU does very well, flexible configurations and the liquid cooling option is a great plus.
